Her Story

There was a baby girl born to Joseph & Stephanie Garvey on July 23rd, on the island of Grand Bahama in The Bahamas, at a time when England ruled the archipelago. This was their 8th of 11 children and heaviest childbirth. The German doctor who was asked to make this special "natural-born" delivery of a massive baby, weighing over ten (10) pounds, in the family's home, asked her parents to give her the name Ania; pronounced AN-YA (which means "God has been gracious, Gracious one, Merciful one"), and was also the name of his only child.

By the time she was 7 years old, she was already competing in sports and winning. She went on to become "Top Athlete" for her country in her age at 9 yrs old by capturing Island and her country's records in track and become Sports Woman of the year in her high school at 11. Her proudest moment in track and field was winning the YMCA games top Under 12 Athlete, after  capturing gold medals in the 800 and 1500 metre races and taking her teammates to victory in both the 4X4 hundred and 4X100 meters relays.  She attributes her success to her competitive nature and her inability to succumb to failure. In no matter the event, Ania has always picked up and conquered challenges. She perseveres, she NEVER gives up.

She became a Commercial Banker in The Bahamas and continued in that line of work, becoming a Top Retail Financial Center Manager and Area Vice President with a major fortune 500 bank after her move to the USA.  It was with Bank of America, where at the time she was a Bank Manager,  that she found her voice for Domestic Violence Advocacy, and became Chairperson for communications for the L.E.A.D. for women for Tampa and eventually for the entire franchise. She was also the Education Chairperson for the National Diversity Leadership Council for Tampa, Florida. It was after speaking with her Regional Director, that it was discovered that the bank did not have a structured policies in place to protect or educate teammates on domestic violence. Ania pointed out that while there was "workplace" violence policies in place, that there was none for Domestic Violence. She is the primary reason behind Bank of America's current Domestic Violence awareness program and policy change.

Ania's singing career began after a conversation with The Disco Queen herself, Donna Summer in Venice Florida.  After a brief impromptu vocal showoff, the 70's Icon advised her to pursue her career in singing because she felt that Ania has what it takes to move audiences. "A God given talent, should never be hidden". Those words gave Ania the courage, so when asked by Tribute Singer for 60's icons "The Marvelettes" Brenda Watty, to sing before an audience in an Winery in Sarasota Florida; Ania did just that!  The song chosen, "Last Dance" by none other than Donna Summer.  The audience's responses were so favorable, that they assumed that she had her own show and wanted to know where they could come to see her perform.

She continued in the banking industry and  released her first single, "Summer Is The Coldest Season" which plateaued on the UK Soul Chart at #2 and made "Song of the year" 2017 in Canada. Other chart toppers include, "Let's Feel Good"; itunes Top 100(2020), Traxsource;  #1 Single, #3 Soul Track, 3 Times #1 Grenada Soul Chart. Other Tunes making Soul Charts include:  "I appreciate You", "He Asked Me", "I Tried To Tell You" and "I Want You". Most recently, her song "Tell Me What You Want" became Radio Indie International Network's #1 Song of the month, and "Artist of the Week", April 2021. Ania states that while charts are an important means to recognize talent and have your music showcased, they are certainly not her motivation. She encourages other Singers to, "Stay true to yourselves and not succumb to pressures of making "charts". Do not let human standards for likes and dislikes steer you into an abyss. Be your best you and sing from the heart. Find the courage to express yourself without inhibitions and  and do not let regret become your motto. Simply do all you desire to do or at least try". "Don't give up on your daydreams".

She is currently preparing for several Live Personal Appearance events which will take place in 2021/2022 in the United Kingdom and for the launch of her first Album, set to be released in July, 2021. She is always looking for ways to better herself and will be pursuing an acting career along with her husband, English Radio Presenter and Dj; Lee Wells, who she met during a radio interview in 2017.
